An ISP Project on CGI and Perl

Welcome to linusnation.tripod.com, a page dedicated to my Independant Study Project on CGI(Common Gateway Interface) and Perl(the language of choice for programming CGI scripts). Since this site is based on these topics, maybe a defention and explaination of them is in order. CGI (as meantioned before) is an acronym for a Common Gateway Interface. What does this mean? Well simply, it's a way two computers are able interact despite the specifications of their systems (eq, operating systems, software, etc). CGI 'programs' are called scripts. The difference between a program and a script is the location of it when it is run. Programs reside locally on a users machine, where scripts are executed remotly on a servers machine. This gives anyone the ability to use CGI pages since the perl compiler also resides on the server.
